Remediation of technogenicaly contaminated soils

Use of liquid humic product EDAGUM®SM for remediation of technogenicaly polluted soils is based on the following properties of humic substances:

  • humic substances able to form insoluble and inactive complexes with heavy metals which thus are draw away from the cycle of substances and do not get into plants, soil and surface waters and atmosphere;
  • as a result of activation of soil microflora by humates an additional enrichment of soil with humic acids and an increase of its resistance to technogenic pollution occur;
  • humates activate the detoxication mechanism of various organic pollutants (oil-products, agricultural chemicals etc.) by soil microorganisms;
  • application of humates allows to reduce up to 50% the transition of radioactive caesium into the tradable part of production.

The rates of EDAGUM®SM application are established depending on the content of pollutants in a given soil type.

EDAGUM®SM is applied for soil remediation under former landfills of household wastes and waste lands, building platforms, in areas of soil pollution by the emissions of industrial enterprises, vehicles etc.

The application of EDAGUM®SM is effective on low-fertile sandy and clay soils with the low humus content, salined, and acid soils. Depending on the soil type the mechanism of EDAGUM®SM action is different:

  • on light sandy soils a cloddy-grain texture is formed, and soil water-holding capacity increases due to formation of organic gels;
  • on heavy clay soils loosening and an increase of air and water permeability occur, that improves respiration and movement of plant roots;
  • on exhausted and long time irrigated soils their initial structure is restored, andthe fertility raises;
  • on salined soils the texture is improved, loosening occurs, air and water permeability improves and the fertility raises;
  • in all the soils the microbiological activity essentially amplifies, and soil nutritional status improves
